Wanting to give the people of Arad the opportunity to know the history and stories of the city, we set up a project through which we transformed them into "tourists at home". In the first seasons of the project, under the motto "Find out the stories of the city!", the project took shape through thematic tours related to subjects such as minorities, educational institutions, places of worship or different historical eras.

After a few seasons of themed tours, we changed our approach and switched to the motto "Behind Closed Doors". Specifically, from themed city tours, we moved on to... indoors tours. We walked the people of Arad through buildings that they may pass by every day, but they don't have the opportunity to enter too often. And in the buildings that are open to the public, we entered places which, as a rule, are not accessible to "normal people". The elevator under the stage of the Arad Philharmonic, the stage pocket of the Classical Theater "Ioan Slavici", the mayor's office , the changing rooms of the "Francisc Neuman" Stadium or the detention sector of the Arad Penitentiary are just some of the places that the people of Arad had the opportunity to visit during of the "Tourist in your own city" project, of the Alternative Tourism Association.

In 2021, after the success of "Tourist in your own city", we extended the project to Timișoara, where the tour guides of Timișoara Free Tours walked the people of Timișoara around the city to learn stories about the city's architects, minorities, revolution, but also in behind closed doors in places like the Faculty of Arts and Design or the Serbian Vicarage.
